Glomerulonephritis

This is the name for a group of diseases that cause inflammation of the glomeruli, the tiny and delicate filters in the kidney. Inflammation may be due to infection or to other causes. Some types of glomerulonephritis respond to treatment with immunosuppressants. These drugs suppress the immune system, which means that the damage to the kidneys can be slowed or in some cases, reversed.
